  • A Detailed Analysis of Purification from a Dog’s Saliva

The Hanaabilah categorized impurities into three categories, from which one of them is:

1. Najaasah Mughalladah – Severe, because of the way in which you have to purify yourself from it. The saliva of the dog falls under this category.

The Hanaabilah then made Qiyaas on this issue and said that all of the dog is also impure. They further stated that the swine is also impure as it is worse than the dog and if the dog is considered by the Shar’eeyyah to have this kind of severe ruling than the swine should also have a ruling similar to it. Although this opinion is perhaps weaker and only restricted to the saliva of the dog because the saliva was specifically mentioned in the hadeeth and the Prophet sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam did not make a general statement.
